Top tips for parents and carers at Open Day
Here are some tips on how best to support your young person get the most out of their visit.
- There is lots to see and take in at an Open Day. A good place to start is picking up an Open Day guide at one of our registration points to see all the activities happening throughout the day, as well as a map of campus. There are also plenty of students and staff to help you find your way or to talk about studying at Leeds.
- Encourage your future graduate to book onto subject talks and taster lectures. Learn more about courses, career opportunities, and experience our excellent teaching first-hand. There is also a dedicated talk for parents and carers, where we will provide advice on how you can support throughout the higher education process.
- Speak to our students, lecturers and admissions staff at our drop-in sessions. Our student ambassadors can provide insight on what it will be like to be a student at Leeds and they know the sort of questions young people might have about university.
- Take our tours. Join guided tours of our outstanding teaching facilities and visit our accommodation so the young person you’re visiting with can get a feel for which one suits them best. You can also explore our impressive libraries, sports facilities and students’ union.
- Learn about student finance, including student loans, study and living costs and financial support at a dedicated talk or at our financial support stand.
